Paul Batchelor wins the
Laporte World Sporting Southern
Championship with an untouchable score of 96 ex 100

Paul Batchelor
receiving £400 HG Prize |
First Day
The first Laporte World Sporting
Southern Championship was held
at Wylye Valley Shooting ground
on the weekend of 24/25th of
September 2011.
Ground owner Ian Stones had set
a fair but testing course with
the par 90 ex 100 being
achievable and believing a
possible 94 could be done by an
in form shooter. However Paul
Bachelor from Warwickshire
stormed through the course
shooting his first 75 targets
straight and finishing the
course on 96 ex 100.
This left the field chasing a
score that was hard to get close
to let alone match or better. At
the end of the first day Andy
Head with his true score of 90
was closest to Paul with Stuart
Rudling and Chris Durrant on 89
ex 100.
In the second level (handicap
added) Andy Head was out in
front on 102 using his true
score of 90 plus his handicap of
12 shots. In second place was R
W Mellish on 95, Graham
Fergusson on 94 with Aldis
Kartocuis and John Heagren on
91.
Second Day
As expected Paul Bachelors score
of 96 could not be matched or
bettered leaving him out in
front and the first Laporte
World Sporting Southern Champion
picking up the £400 high gun
prize. Chris Daniels from
Staffordshire took second place
and £300 shooting a 92.
Third place was shared by Andy
Head, Joe Wade, Will Thatcher
and Chris Childerhouse all
finishing on 90 ex 100.
In the second level (handicap
added) Shaun Whatley using his
handicap of +25 took first place
and the £300 prize money ending
up on 110. With an excellent
true score of 85 this will mean
he will loose 20 shots from his
handicap next time out and will
be on +5.
Pamella Fullwood came second on
107 including handicap and
Leonard Sporne came third. A
further 10 shooters picked up
prize money in the third level
which is a share of the
remaining prize fund to those on
a score of 96 or
over including their handicap.
