The second UK Laporte World
Sporting Championship held at
Orston Shooting ground
Nottinghamshire on the 12th and
13th of May 2012 was once again
blessed with great weather for
the shoot and Saturday the 12th
started bright with little wind
making it ideal shooting
conditions after weeks of rain.
John Lee set the pace with an
amazing 97 ex 100 which left him
two targets clear of his nearest
rivals Martin Doughty and Nick
Hendrick both on 95 and in a
great position to take the £400
high gun prize.
In the handicap added section
offering a £300 first prize
Craig Timmins returned an 88
which added to his 23 handicap
put him out in front on 111 one
clear of Steven walker on 110
and three clear of Rachel Wilcox
on 108.
The second day Sunday the 13th
of May was slightly more windy
but once again perfect shooting
conditions for clay shooting.
Paul Wilkinson finished the day
the only shooter able to match
John Lee’s score of 97 and Karl
Hagan joined Martin and Nick on
95’s. Mark Winsor shooting on
the last squad was unlucky to
not equal or even better John
and Paul’s score missing too
many targets on a relatively
straight forward stand ending up
on 94 after shooting most stands
straight.
Linda Grayson returned a score
of 89 that added to her 23
handicap put her out in front on
112 to win first place in the
handicap added section moving
ahead of Craig Timmins by one
target.
John Lee and Paul Wilkinson
shared high Gun and first place
in the First level (no handicap
added) and are 2012 joint
champions on 97 ex 100 sharing
the prize money and picking up
£350 each.
Linda Grayson picked up the £300
HG prize in the Second level
(score inc handicap) finishing
on 112 inc her 23 handicap after
shooting her personal best score
of 89 ex 100.
